Park City to Denver to Granby Ranch

As we mentioned in our last post, we decided to leave a day early out of Park City to avoid some possible bad weather. So instead of going straight to Granby Ranch we went to Denver first and stayed one night with our friend Nate's parents where we had stayed the last time we were in Denver. We took I-80 to I-25, and despite being told that the drive would be boring we still enjoyed the scenery.

As we approached Denver both Katie and I were getting quite tired of being in the car, mostly because we were hungry. So we stopped at an exit that we thought had both sandwich options for Katie and Taco Johns for me. Sadly the Taco Johns was no longer there, so I had to continue my search after working our way through heavy traffic. We eventually found one, but it ended up being way too much work for something that was supposed to be cheap and easy. And then we learned once we arrived to Nate's parent's place that they had smoked ribs and beans, putting our dinners to shame. Luckily we were able to have some of their leftovers for lunch the next day before leaving, which were quite frankly amazing!

Excellent smoked ribs and the best dish of beans I've ever had.

Katie and I were going to be the first to arrive to the condo, so on our drive to Granby we stopped at a couple different grocery stores to pick up food for everyone. The reason we stopped at a couple stores was because we thought the groceries near the resort would be more expensive. So we picked up all the non-perishables down in Denver and waited til Winter Park to pick up the rest. It turns out our extra efforts weren't necessary since prices were actually the same. Oh well. We then found our condo, got checked in, and a couple hours later got dinner ready so that my family could eat once they arrived. We made tacos. It was a great way to start our time here. Up next... more snowboarding!
