Stately, old Vienna house we're staying in the basement of |
The backyard of the house. The lower two windows give good light to our room. |
A different wide angle view of the backyard |
Our comfortable bed with fancy decor |
The little kitchen area in our room |
Spring has sprung on the streets of Vienna. There are flowers and leafing trees lining the streets that are filled with beautifully styled, old Viennese homes. We've enjoyed wandering around the neighborhood and area parks. Here are some things we've come across:
The flowering, tree-lined streets of our fancy, old-school Vienna neighborhood |
This fancy, old residence looks kind of castle-like |
We found a very green park nearby |
A playground on top of a hill in the park |
I'm not sure what age group this swing is for, but it is so comfortable |
View of Vienna on a foggy morning atop the hill in the park |
We found another playground with this giant slide |
And, more swings |
And, this fancy contraption that looks like it allows children to pump water through this Rube Goldberg type structure and engineer mud dams along the way |
We were flummoxed by these. Benches in the middle of a field? For sunbathing? For skateboard tricks? For exercise purposes? |
Brandon has now studied the Vienna transit system extensively, and we've learned that our neighborhood is well connected to the tram system which can take us to the subway. The light rail train for passengers only comes every hour, so this must be a quieter neighborhood, similar to Altona where we stayed in Melbourne.
A train running through the neighborhood hauling at least 2 km length of double-stacked cars |
We don't mind being in a quieter, less hip area. We're happy to have two grocery stores in easy walking distance and picturesque surroundings to enjoy.
