Meanderings Around Marienplatz

We managed see a lot of Munich in just three days. Here are some photos depicting our meandering around Marienplatz, the heart of Munich.

Munich Town Hall

Remarkable spire

Batman is present in Munich

We don't know what building this is, but it looks fancy

Fancy fountain that is actually in action

Exploring a park with blooming flowers and a non-functional fountain

Beer garden in the park

Fancy entrance/exit to the park with Pam leading the way

We returned to Marienplatz the next day in hopes of finding a pub broadcasting the Bayern Munich soccer game. We eventually found an Irish-Australian pub (yes, interesting combo) that was showing the game and were able to watch the second half among the crowds. Bayern Munich easily won the game at 3:0.

A final visit to Marienplatz led us to the famous beer hall, Hofbräuhaus Munchen. There we shared a long table and huge, 1 liter steins of beer. With the menu in English and German we discovered that the sweet beer we had at the monastery was so sweet because it was a mixture of beer and lemonade! We avoided that this time and enjoyed the original and dark beers.

Hofbrauhaus Munchen was bustling

Cheers from Munich!
