We returned to Marienplatz the next day in hopes of finding a pub broadcasting the Bayern Munich soccer game. We eventually found an Irish-Australian pub (yes, interesting combo) that was showing the game and were able to watch the second half among the crowds. Bayern Munich easily won the game at 3:0.
A final visit to Marienplatz led us to the famous beer hall, Hofbräuhaus Munchen. There we shared a long table and huge, 1 liter steins of beer. With the menu in English and German we discovered that the sweet beer we had at the monastery was so sweet because it was a mixture of beer and lemonade! We avoided that this time and enjoyed the original and dark beers.
