Sunday Walking Market

The Sunday Walking Market is even longer and more popular than the Saturday Walking Market. It starts at Tha Phae Gate in the East and goes west down the entire length of Ratchadamnoen Road ending at Wat Phra Singh. Wat Phra Singh is the closest major temple to our house, so this market is much more conveniently located for us.

We were still a bit weary from our Saturday market experience, so we just checked out a small section of the market near our house. Like the Saturday Walking Market, there are offshoots from the main road with more stalls. The market is ever expanding. Wading through the sea of people for just a couple blocks was enough. From what we saw the products looked more mass produced compared to the more handcrafted nature of merchandise at the Saturday market.

After a little more wandering we found an open seat at a restaurant right on Ratchadamnoen Road called It's Good Kitchen. It was definitely a nice way to peacefully view the market just removed from the chaos. We were able to order dinner and simultaneously people watch.

We were tired of the typical street food stir fry. While cheap, it's probably not as healthy with all the added salt, sugar, MSG, cheap oils, and lower grade meats. I was craving fresher curry like we had had in Tonsai, so we were pleased to see similar dishes on the menu. Our food did not disappoint. It's Good Kitchen was definitely good.

Tom Yum Soup with rice amusingly shaped like a teddy bear. This is a hot and sour soup with lemongrass, lime, fish sauce, crushed chili peppers, and shrimp. The rice helps soak up the flavorful broth.
